Microsoft Project and Visio to be removed from UFApps offerings
On December 18, 2024, Project and Visio will be removed from UFApps offerings.
Students can obtain free individual licensing for Visio Professional and Project Professional through Azure Dev Tools for Teaching. For more details, visit: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/education-hub/azure-dev-tools-teaching/program-faq#azure-for-students. Instructions to register into the program and obtain the software can be found here: https://info.apps.ufl.edu/instructions-to-register-to-azure-dev-tools-for-teaching/
For more context: Microsoft Project Pro and Visio Pro were provided in UFApps under the Microsoft Imagine Premium subscription for STEM programs. In the February 2019 timeframe, Imagine Premium was transitioned to Azure Dev Tools for Teaching. Azure Dev Tools for Teaching make software available to EDU customers to download and install with an associated activation key. Microsoft licensing for Project and Visio is per user and not compliant with being used as a virtualized application which would enable concurrent use by multiple users. Due to this compliance concern, we will no longer provide Project and Visio through UFApps. Let us know if you have any other questions by submitting a ticket.
