Fix blank tab when launching apps in UFApps using a web browser

Several users reported issues when launching an app in UFApps using the light receiver. When the user clicks on an application, a new tab opens in the browser but stays blank. This impacted all web browsers.

During our investigation, we found that extensions that block advertisements like ADBlock Plus and UBlock Origin interfered with the light receiver in UFApps. Hence, the new tab in UFApps appears blank.

To prevent this issue, we highly recommend the following:

  • Disable the ad blocker for https://apps.ufl.edu or
  • Whitelist https://apps.ufl.edu
